Bringing People to Church
I’ve appreciated the posts by Kevin Hendricks at ChurchMarketingSuck.com the last couple of days. (By the way, I agree that it normally does.) He’s been commenting on an article in the Toledo Blade about CedarCreek Church. Lee is a friend of Granger Community Church so it was particularly fun to read about what’s happening in his ministry.
Today, Kevin focused on the key stat: 80% of first-time visitors come because they are personally invited. We have found a similar situation at Granger. The last all-church survey we conducted found that exactly 74% of first-time visitors came because someone invited them. We’ll still do direct mailings to invite people to a new series and to get them familiar with our ministry. The other reason why we print thousands of postcards for each new series, though, is so our people can invite their friends to check out a weekend service.
To read more about the importance of personal invitations and what the church can do to encourage that, you can check out this article at The Church Report magazine.
