    Tony – great quote – And this is why I believe 99.9% of all performance apprasisal systems are junk. They are tons of work, nobody likes them, and they do little to differentiate rock stars from hacks. And there is no evidence that they improve performance. All the research I have seen clearly says scrap the whole process, but it’s so ingrained in most companies that they can’t even consider that there might be a better way to run a company.

    The whole performance management paradigm needs to be up ended…

    Lisa, even though it’s “sacreligious” in management circles, we dumped regular performance appraisals at Granger several years ago. We could never find a solution that really worked. Truth be told–I don’t think anyone has missed it either.
