Golf is a game played with a ball, therefore to refer to participation in that game one should say, "playing golf" not "golfing." I need to express a deep theological concern regarding your post. Golf is a game played with a ball, therefore to refer to participation in that game one should say, “playing golf” not “golfing.”

Consider the other ball sports and the correct expressions:
baseballing?
footballing?
soccering?
tennising?
hockeying?
squashing? Oops

Just a thought.
