Mosaic

Between golf, the beach, my blog date, the cookout, the pool, the Napoleon Dynamite replay and my prep with Terry for the Top 10 list, I didn’t have a whole lot of time to research this weekend for the "Cool Church of the Week." In fact, I’m thinking I might need another day off to recover from my holiday weekend.

That aside, I did find a fun stop this weekend that I think you’ll enjoy. You’ve probably heard of this church. And, you may have even read a book or two from their pastor. This week’s cool church is Mosaic in Los Angeles. Their lead pastor is one of my favorites, Erwin McManus. Mosaic is in the middle of a creative weekend series that’s taking a look at eight "Bad Guys of the Bible." What makes this series unique, however, is the clever video clips they’re creating to introduce each weekend. You absolutely have to check out the Samson & Delilah video on the main page of their site. Honestly…I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. It’s hilarious. And, I could be wrong, but I think that’s a Commodores track they’ve used for the background music. You gotta’ love that.

This weekend if I wasn’t on my blog date with Mark Morgan here at Granger Community Church, I would have flown out to L.A. to visit Mosaic. That makes them my cool church of the week.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we all had the big budget to make that quality of a video :)

    Seriously, that was funny!

That was so funny. BTW… It’s Barry White in the background… not the Commodores. I just wanted you to have your facts straight when you download your “playa” playlist.

You are right about the ending instrumental which was the Commodores, but the middle (with the sexy lyrics) was Barry. Barry makes the magic happen.

Well, I think we’re both right. That does sound like Barry White. And, I’m almost positive that last song at the very end of the video is “Machine Gun,” a 1974 release from the Commodores. I guess we’ll need a Commodores aficionado to confirm that bit of music trivia.
