Box Score for Weekend of August 27/28
Here’s the "box score" for this past weekend at Granger Community Church.
Music: "The Way I Was Made" by Chris Tomlin; "Down to the River" by Allison Krauss; "Dare You to Move" by Switchfoot
Message: "Nu Identity: Beyond Club Membership" — Rob Wegner, Pastor of Life Development, talked about how we become more like Christ by first embracing our new identity in Christ (II Cor. 5:17). Rob provided a long series of verses from the Bible that describe who we are in Christ. Additionally, Rob explained the opportunity we have to publicly proclaim our faith in Jesus through baptism.
Service Highlights: One of the primary objectives of this service was to explain the importance of baptism. In addition to Rob’s message, we showed the baptism video from last year, and there was a drama to help people understand why we offer baptism as a way for people to publicly express and celebrate a faith commitment they’ve made. The next step we offered people out of this service was an opportunity to participate in the baptism event we have planned for September 11.
Stats: 5,045 total attendance (3,962 adults + 1,083 kids); 8.4% decrease from the same weekend last year
Percentage of weekend attendance by service:
- Sun 10:15 am = 28%
- Sat 5:30 pm = 24%
- Sun 8:45 am = 16%
- Sat 7:30 pm = 16%
- Sun 11:45 am = 16%
Final Notes: You probably noticed that our attendance was down from the same weekend last year. That’s really more of a reflection of what was happening last year. On this weekend last year we launched the Reality TV series, and the topic for that first weekend was "sex." Needless to say, we had a few people show up who were interested in hearing what the Bible…and Mark Beeson…had to say about that topic.
