Fellowship of the Woodlands
This week I’d like to recognize all the churches across the country that are taking steps to respond to the tragedy in the Gulf region. There are many churches that are making positive contributions to the relief effort. Some churches, though, are in a unique position to respond because of where they’re located in proximity to the aftermath of Katrina.
One of those churches that is making a big difference is the Fellowship of the Woodlands (FOTW). FOTW is located near Houston, so they are in a place where they can provide direct care and support for the evacuees from New Orleans that are now staying in the Astrodome. You can read about FOTW’s plan for assisting the evacuees here.
Even before this week’s events, Kerry Shook and the team at FOTW have been making a great impact in the lives of people in Houston. Now, they have a special opportunity to provide ministry to people who are temporarily calling Houston home. Because they are demonstrating that a big church can make a big difference in this time of crisis, Fellowship of the Woodlands is my "Cool Church of the Week." They are just one of many churches across the country that are putting faith into action by serving the families that have been displaced by this terrible storm.
