Box Score for Weekend of September 10/11

Here’s the "box score" for this past weekend at Granger Community Church.

Music: "Revolution" by Inhabited

Nume_1Message: "Nu Focus: More than an Owner’s Manual" — Mark Beeson, Senior Pastor, addressed the importance of Bible reading and study. He talked about how our lives and our spiritual growth are shaped by traditions, reason, experiences and Scripture with the need to filter the first three through God’s Word. Mark reminded us that it’s possible to read just 15 minutes a day to get through the entire Bible in one year.

Service Highlights: The service included a number of powerful arts elements including the special music number, "Revolution," and a video that highlighted the "Bridge" weekend. My favorite element in the service, however, was a drama called "Parents on the Sidelines." It demonstrated the almost comical way we sometimes approach telling people we barely know about our faith before we’ve even had the chance to build a relationship with them. Funny stuff.

Stats: 4,917 total attendance (3,789 adults + 1,128 kids); exact same attendance as the same weekend last year

Percentage of weekend attendance by service:

  1. Sun 10:15 am = 29%
  2. Sat 5:30 pm = 20%
  3. Sun 11:45 am = 17%
  4. Sun 8:45 am = 17%
  5. Sat 7:30 pm = 16%

Final Notes: We start a new series next weekend. In the series, we’ll take a look at what the Bible says about emotions we experience when we are lost–beginning with lost and angry.
