We Lost a Friend
Last night Granger Community Church lost a great man and a great friend. Doug Coney served on staff in our creative arts ministry. If you are outside of Granger, you probably don’t know Doug…yet you do. He had a great influence on our ministry for the past number of years. Doug was an artist and a craftsman. Among his many responsibilities was the creation of the sets that we have used for every message series for that past 5 or more years–ever since we began using sets on our platform to help communicate the theme of each series. Doug helped shape our outreach to the community. Without his ministry, we would not have been as effective in telling people about the love, forgiveness and hope they can find in Jesus Christ.
This past weekend, I was traveling and missed the services at Granger. Emily attended the weekend service with our kids. The kids knew we were launching a new series. And, as always, they wanted to see what Doug and his team had created. So, after their classes concluded down in the children’s center, Emily brought them upstairs after the service to see Doug’s set creation. Emily said the kids were amazed. Jacob commented, "Mommy, I think this is the best one ever."
We’re going to miss Doug. He was a real warrior. He loved his two young kids. He loved his wife, Lesley, who also serves on our staff team. He loved Jesus and his church. We’re going to celebrate Doug’s life, but we’re also going to miss him. He helped mark the ministry of Granger Community Church and he certainly marked our lives as well.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss :(
A Family Member Goes Home
Last night one of our staff suddenly left this world to go to the Father. Doug Coney was the guy that put together the incredible sets for our stage for each series. I’ve gotten to know Doug better in the
