Quarry Community Church

I’ll bet you haven’t seen this at church before. Let me take a few minutes to flush this one out for you. Quarry Community Church came up with a clever way to discuss the Christian faith with people who don’t typically attend church. With ideas like this, I wouldn’t be surprised if they soon experience a full house of worship.

SermonQuarry’s current weekend series is called "Faith Worth the Wager." The series includes messages titled "Playing the Hand You’re Dealt," "Is God Bluffing?" and "Living an ‘All-In’ Life." To help promote the series to their community, they distributed poker chips with their church logo, name, web address and the series title imprinted right on the chips. You can read more details on Associate Pastor Brenton Balvin’s blog.

Quarry Church is only four years old. They meet in a middle school in Monticello, Minnesota, about 45 minutes northwest of a pair of cities. It’s pretty much a straight shot up Highway 52.

This weekend if I wasn’t attending Granger Community Church, I’d put all my money on Quarry and check out the conclusion of their creative series. That makes Quarry Community Church my "Cool Church of the Week."

Hey Tony, thanks for the mention. We have experienced some cool stuff happening in this series. There is nothing better than using our God given creativity to reach people who are still far from him. Thanks again.
