Box Score for Weekend of September 24/25

Here’s the "box score" for this past weekend at Granger Community Church.

Music: "My Immortal" by Evanescense; "Sea of Faces" by Kutless

Lost and Lonely — Mark Beeson, Senior Pastor, talked about God’s help for the lost and lonely. He included some helpful encouragement for times when we have people in our lives who have recently experienced a loss in their lives. Among other things, Mark shared that it’s important to just "be there" for our friends who have experienced a loss. In fact, he suggested sometimes the best thing to do is be there and shut your mouth. He cited the example in Job 2:13, "Then they sat upon the ground with him silently for seven days and nights, no one speaking a word; for they saw that his suffering was too great for words."

Lost_458Service Highlights: Let me try to catch you up. In the first week of the series, there was a video that showed a plane crash. That’s the background for this whole series, and that’s what the stage set includes–a crashed plane on a tropical island. This week, the drama was about the survivors from the crash. One of the survivors died during the scene and her mom was right there at her side when it happened. It provided a very emotional and powerful transition into Mark’s message.

Stats: 5,835 total attendance (4,529 adults + 1,306 kids); 27.7% increase from the same weekend last year

Percentage of weekend attendance by service:

  1. Sun 10:15 am = 29%
  2. Sat 5:30 pm = 20%
  3. Sun 11:45 am = 19%
  4. Sat 7:30 pm = 17%
  5. Sun 8:45 am = 15%

Final Notes: With everything happening here, I wasn’t able to share a box score last week. Our attendance for the first week of the series was 5,381. As you can see by the jump from where we were last year, this series really appears to be resonating with people. It’ll be fun to share elements of it with the crowd attending the conference later this week.
