Podcasting, Devil’s Advocates, and iPod Chariots
This is the stuff that caught by attention over the last several days while I was traveling but didn’t have time to blog:
- BloggingChurch.com offered a simple solution for podcasting. I’m still not biting. I’m going to be a late-adopter on podcasting. Sorry.
- Interesting stats on blog readers who use RSS feeds. There aren’t many. That’s why I’m doing my part to educate my readers.
- Creating Passionate Users has an interesting post on "Devil’s Advocates." The irony is that there are probably more Devil’s Advocates in local churches than any other institution.
- Speaking of Devil’s Advocates in the church…these people don’t like the way we help people meet Jesus and experience life change. This is an example of what I wrote about when I referred to the zone of mediocrity a few weeks ago.
- Decker Marketing reminds us that "People crave things that are new and excellent." This is the exact same topic that Andy Stanley addressed last week in his final session.
- Jonathan Herron has another pink shirt pic–this time with him and Perry Noble. Only in this one we’re all wearing pink shirts.
- My iPod has some great new music from David Crowder, Sheryl Crow and Switchfoot, but the album that I keep playing over and over is Gavin DeGraw’s Chariot. Good stuff.

Tony,
Two thoughts…
#1 – Holy poo poo batman! I can’t believe the shot that other church/ministry took @ you guys. Actually–I am not surprised–the Pharisees still exist.
#2 – There is nothing wrong with a pink shirt, take a look @ my blog later on this week–I had a picture taken with Terry Storch and I was wearing pink!
Enjoyed getting to meet you dude!
I can’t believe someone actually dedicates that much time to a website that tears down other churches. I love what Granger is doing and will keep all of you in my prayers. I have a pink shirt as well.
I got your back as far as that “other site” is concerned. I can’t stand people that say big churches are all about numbers. Numbers are people and souls, no matter how you slice it.
If they were actually doing something for the Kingdom, they would singing a different tune.
Well, God bless them… and you guys too. Keep it up.
Tony — We once had a guy develop an entire website in oposition to the impact we have had in our community. Years ago I was a student at Moody and worked at Willow Creek…this was befor working at willow was universally cool. I took a lot of crap for my involvment at Willow. I am consitantly impressed with both the amount of time and amount of energy Christians can muster up when targeting somebody elses church. What you guys do is great and if what I saw at the ICC is any indication of what church is like….you guys are no where near sell out status.
Keep it up….
Ingred scares me. There is battle to be fought every day and this is how she chooses to live out each day? I should have known something was wrong with her when she said she has been in “Christian radio” for years….I didn’t know radios could get saved?
Tim, I wouldn’t even engage in dialogue with people who see the world from that angle of vision. There is no reasoning with them. The world is filled with people who need and will respond to your attention, and your time is too precious (and not your own).
Dialogues such as these, I believe, are simply distractions from the kingdom work at hand – power on!
