Crossroads Church

With about eight inches of snow falling here in South Bend a couple of days ago, it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas around here. The stockings are hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas will deliver a Fiesta Bowl victory for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

CrossroadsAs visions of sugar plums begin to dance in your heads, it’s important to remember that Christmas season is one of the few times each year when people are actually receptive to an invitation to check out what’s happening at your church. One church that’s going out of their way to make it easy for people to do just that during the Christmas season is Crossroads Church in Corona, California. Senior Pastor Barry McMurtrie and his team have this Christmas thing wired. They’ve orchestrated an entire series of events to make it easy for people to invite their friends. Barry even offered his Top 10 reasons for attending Crossroads this Christmas.

Crossroads has a unique story that began over 100 years ago. The church started with nine people back in 1892. Earlier this year they opened a brand new 3,000-seat auditorium. They now have over 6,000 people attending services every weekend.

This weekend if I wasn’t going to watch my kids sing in the Christmas program at Granger Community Church, I’d go to Crossroads Church. They really know how to celebrate Christmas. (And it helps that they have palm trees.) That makes Crossroads Church my "Cool Church of the Week."
