Amazon: “You’ve Earned It.”
This struck me funny today. I received an email message from Amazon with a personalized message to me.
Tony, just because we make gift shopping so easy doesn’t mean you shouldn’t reward yourself for all the cheer you’ve spread. Take a look at these items we recommend for you and just tell yourself: you’ve earned it.
The message included eight recommended books that they thought I might be interested in purchasing for myself. This list, of course, was generated based on my previous buying habits at Amazon. Among the books they recommended for me were Blink by Malcolm Gladwell, Freakonomics by Steven Levitt, and The Volunteer Revolution by Bill Hybels. One of the eight books they recommended was Simply Strategic Growth by Tim Stevens and Tony Morgan (that would be me).
To be honest, it’s a bit of a relief to know I wrote a book that Amazon thinks I’d be interested in reading.
Thanks Jeff Bezos. You made my day.

I got one of those too.
I thought, wouldn’t it be cool to be able to zero in on people’s needs like that from a church or ministry website based on that person’s past interests?
That’s pretty dang-o funny ;0)
