I’m holding the hot-off-the-presses, brand-new edition of Specific & Practical, a magazine published by WiredChurches.com. (Actually it’s kind of hard to hold the magazine and type at the same time, so I’m going to put the magazine down.) Specific & Practical is full of articles written for church leaders on a variety of ministry topics that also highlight what’s happening in and around Granger Community Church–especially as it relates to the 2006 WiredChurches.com events.

The magazine hits these topics and more:

  • First impressions: "What’s the first message you want your guest to ‘get?’ Because they’ll get it–or they won’t–even before they set foot in a service."
  • Church planting: "Church planting is not for the weak. It’s for the called, the committed–and the connected."
  • Groups: "Part of the challenge for us at Granger Community Church is that we teach and encourage relationships–not merely groups."
  • Volunteers: "You will probably never have enough volunteers, enough money, enough space, or enough time to accomplish everything on your wish list."
  • Media: "We use the technology that our unchurched friends are familiar with to reach them in their comfort zone. The technology is just another tool that helps us share the love of Christ."

There are also articles on communications, creative arts, student and children’s ministry, missions and discipleship. We’ll be shipping the magazines in January, but I wanted to make sure you got the sneak preview. With that in mind, here’s an electronic version of the new magazine:
