While I was gone…
Man, it’s really tough to get back into the swing of things after being gone for two weeks. I think I could get used to hanging out on the beach. Here are some things I didn’t get the chance to share while I was on vacation:
- We had 9,012 people show up for Christmas Eve services at Granger.
- Terry posted something on his blog. That included the news about the new Fellowship Uptown building. Very cool.
- Then Brian started a vicious rumor that Terry and I are actually the same person. For the record, it should be noted that Terry hasn’t posted anything since I returned from vacation. Maybe we actually are the same person…
- I pre-ordered my copy of Naked Conversations by Robert Scoble and Shel Israel.
- I pondered how much better my books would sell if my co-author had a cool name like "Shel" instead of "Tim."
- Mark Beeson taught about "The 5 Most Irritating Things about Christians" on New Year’s weekend at Granger. I’ll blog more about this later. Good stuff.
- I watched 12 sunsets from the beach at Perdido Key, Florida and one sunrise from my minivan on Interstate 65 somewhere in Alabama. I prefer the sunsets.
- Notre Dame experienced a tough loss in the Fiesta Bowl. Then I had to listen to my father-in-law gloat after Texas upset USC. I loved the bowl games this year. Great football!
- I ate a big meal at Lambert’s Cafe in Foley, Alabama. They throw food at you. Pretty fun.
- I made Gary’s Top 10 blogs list and Josh’s Top 5 interview list. Having been honored in this way, I’d like to thank my producer (my mom) and my wife and all the little people in my life (my 4 kids) for making all this possible. And, I think there should be world peace. And, we should recycle. Oh, I almost forgot to thank… Orchestra starts playing. Cut to commercial.
- Guy Kawasaki finally started blogging. Good grief. After only a week of blogging, he already has six times more subscribers than me. I guess I’m one of the little people.
- During the 16-hour drive back from the beach, I listened to Ed Young’s "Why I" series. I’ve heard Ed speak in various venues probably a couple of dozen times. These have to be my favorite messages I’ve heard him teach. I recommend you order these messages and consider teaching a similar series at your churches. My favorites were "Why I Give" and "Why I Doubt."
Oh, something else big happened while I was on vacation…but that deserves a separate post.

Lamberts eh? So you were in my neck of the woods? Hard to top the Gulf Coast… Sugar white sands… beautiful here… I’m not to far from where you were. I’m in the beach community of Pensacola… a little city called Gulf Breeze. Someone has to suffer for God at the beach right? Hope you enjoyed the sand, the sun and the palms. And Lamberts is an experience. I don’t think I have ever finished a meal there.
Lamberts is awesome! Wow, I miss Mobile. How many rolls hit you in the chest before you even realized they were flying at you?
