My Role is Changing

A funny thing happened last week while we were out in Arizona. Somewhere on the drive between Phoenix and Sedona, I was handed the responsibility of overseeing our student ministry at Granger. Don’t worry–they’re letting me keep my day job. I still get to hang out with all the cool cats that were on my team before I left for Arizona. The only change is that I now also have the privilege of teaming up with one of the most gifted group of student ministry leaders in the country. I’m pretty pumped about that. Let me introduce you to a few of my new teammates and their roles.

  • Judy Gregory is the Pastor of Middle School Ministries at Granger. She’s the veteran of the group. Under her leadership, we have about 400 middle school students gathering every Wednesday evening for Oasis.
  • Corey Mann is the Director of High School Ministries. He transitioned from being a radio DJ to leading Lifeline a few years ago. Corey was recently featured in the Catalyst GroupZine as a "next generation leader."
  • John Keim is leading the operations functions to support both middle and high school ministries. John’s the newest member of the team, and he’s really passionate about reaching students for Jesus.

With these three leaders are a group of volunteers and staff team members who are helping to impact the lives of students throughout our region. It’s really a remarkable team. Every time I turn around, it seems like God is giving me a new opportunity to share life with phenomenal leaders. This is no exception.

I don’t exactly know what this next phase of ministry looks like for me, but I think I’m in for a great adventure. Can’t make any promises that this little transition won’t impact the blogging pace, but I’ll try my best to keep you in the know.

    Tony,
I am so excited for you… I loved the years that I had the privilege of working with students… its one of the greatest challenges and one of the most fulfilling ministries in the church… Awesome!!!

Wow, this is kind of weird. I’m at the C3 Conference in Dallas and Ed Young did the same thing to his Executive Pastor and changed the job responsibilities of the entire staff. Is this the new trend for large churches?

Congrats! There is no higher calling than helping the church have a healthy future.
