Get Your Strategy On
Here’s the "box score" for this past weekend at Granger Community Church.
Music: "Stickwitu" by Pussy Cat Dolls; "Stay With You" by John Legend
Message: "The Greatest Sex You’ll Ever Have" — Mark Beeson, Senior Pastor, talked about the fact that we shouldn’t try to extinguish desire or indulge every desire, but we need to order our desires based on God’s priorities (Matthew 6:33). He also talked about temptation and encouraged us to be prepared to break free from lesser desires by knowing when to flee, setting boundaries, taking radical action if needed and regularly reading the Bible. He concluded by explaining that the greatest sex you’ll ever have is rightly ordered sex.
Service Highlights: Lots of highlights from the week. Hard to pick just one. The teaching was solid. The music was outstanding. The new video system is just incredible. My highlight, though, was probably the video that was created for the beginning of the service. It dramatically showed a couple that appeared to be having an affair. Then, while they were in the middle of their rendezvous at a restaurant, the punchline was delivered…they were actually married. The video was a great reminder of the need to work at maintaining passion and romance within the marriage relationship.
Stats: 7,296 total attendance (5,622 adults + 1,674 kids); 70.7% increase from the same weekend last year
Percentage of weekend attendance by service:
Final Notes: At the conclusion of the service, Mark recommended the book Sheet Music by Dr. Kevin Leman. If you’re married and haven’t read this book yet, you’re really missing out. Every couple should own this, and you should be recommending it to every other married couple you know.
