Always on Your Side

YoursideI’ll admit it. I’ve always been somewhat of a sucker for those sappy ballads. I guess deep down I’m just a hopeless romantic. Well, my favorite sappy ballad in recent months as been "Always on Your Side" by Sheryl Crow. Today it just got even better because the song was just re-released as a duet with Sheryl and Sting. Download it from iTunes. Turn down the lights. Crank up the stereo. Get your lighter ready. You’re going to want to ask Sheryl and Sting for an encore.

You should check out http://www.live.fm. I just discovered it yesterday; basically you enter in your favorite artist and, like xm radio, it plays a personal radio station for you on your laptop commercial free. And it costs nothing (I love the web!).
Just thought you’d be interested – Sheryl Crow 24/7 in Tony’s office!

Michael, you are a lucky man. I saw Sheryl Crow in concert a few years ago. Great concert. You’re going to enjoy it.

I absolutely love “Always on Your Side” (the Sheryl Crow and Sting version.) In fact, I’m about to go out and buy the CD in just a few minutes. I heard that the song is a remake. Does anyone know who originally sang/wrote it?

    Thanks, Kristine

it is starting to become one of those itches under the skin that you just can’t scratch! I know someone else did it, bugging me–maybe Elton John, any maybe suggestions from anyone, scratch my itch!! :)

I so love “always on your side but what is it about? Love relationship, growing up, or what is it about? I want to sing it somewhere but what kind of an event can I sing it at

To Stef: This song (Always On Your Side) sounds familiar to me too. Give Elton John’s “Someone Saved My Life Tonight” and I think you’ll here the similarities, including a quote:”and butterflies are free to fly,fly away…”

Hello – I downloaded Sheryl’s new Album when it 1st came out from iTunes. I listed to it daily and also noticed the ALWAYS song sounded like Elton John’s SOMEONE song. It finally got to me that I looked up both songs and found this web site. So I was not crazy. Elton wrote his about his near marriage. Both are great songs! Thanks, Art

TO Stef: When I heard this song, I too had the same thoughts as you – love this song but in what situation is it appropriate? Now, having gone through something personal very lately, I think I can saftely interpret it as one where both parties feel unconditional love for one another, but one of them has to leave without explaination and the other can only “wonder why was it you that kept me wondering through this life, when you know that I was always on your side?” I know that sounds ridiculously cliche and sappy, but I’m talking from first hand experience.

Oops, my apologies – I meant to direct my last post to Tiffany, not Stef.
