DaVinci Code Resources
Michael wrote in this week asking when resources will be available for our upcoming series: Unlocking the DaVinci Code. We’re launching that series on Easter weekend. I know there are many churches throughout the country that are tackling that topic with the upcoming release of the movie with Tom Hanks. Here’s the scoop on our series resources:
- The license we purchased to use the image of Mona Lisa in our promotions doesn’t allow us to resell our series graphic; however, Outreach has graphics available on their site for the DaVinci Code.
- Our messages will be available after each weekend. So, for example, the Easter message from Saturday and Sunday will be available on the following Monday.
- The other resources are typically made available after we finish the series. In this case, that’ll be after May 14. That will include any dramas, small group study guides, series packs, etc.
Hope that helps. Let me know if your church is doing a similar series in the coming months and if you have any great ideas to help address the challenging topics raised in the book and the upcoming movie.

What are you going to say about the Da Vinci Code?
What a great idea…I’ll mention it to our Pastors.

Did GCC do a series like this for “The Passion of the Christ”? Or for you other readers your church.
What were the results if so. And if not, why not.
I am just trying to judge the sucess of these sermom series tie ins with major movies.
Thanks
Todd, check out the Episode #11 of the Simply Strategic Show: “Plan to Launch.” Tim and I talked about the DaVinci Code series during that episode including an outline of what will be covered during the series. Basically, the series will be all about Jesus.
Luke, we didn’t do a series on “The Passion of Christ,” but we did encourage our people to go see it. If you’re interested in finding out why we do series around movies and other hot topics in the culture, I recommend you come check out our Simply Strategic Growth workshop.

We’re doing a “Discussing the Da Vinci Code” series starting the Sunday after Easter (though the info isn’t on our website yet). We’ll use the small group DVD kit developed by Willow Creek & Zondervan for small group discussions, and I’m touching on the same 4 topics they address, switching the last 2 so we can talk about women/”the sacred feminine” on Mother’s Day.
I’m sure you guys will have fun with the series! Maybe I can sneak away for the 4:00 or 7:30 service on Apr. 15…
Down here in New Zealand we are planning a four week series starting the weekend that Da Vinci Code come out. We are even thinking of getting as many of our own people to it as possible so that we can engage with it properly (rather than through hearsay). It is proving to be a bit of a pain, because most new resource material is not hitting the market until just before the movie comes out, making it very hard to prepare and make decisions in time. If there is any way to get the drama scripts from GCC as soon as they have been used it would be really useful. Love the Podcast & SS Books – keep ‘em coming.
I am out here at Skyline serving under Jim Garlow…code breaker and breaking the code…
One just released and the other made the new york best seller last year.
Anyway I have some free small group material for small groups if anyone wants it…
we are starting our service right after Easter…
If you want it email me and i will send it to you…it was created by Jim Garlow…
