On our trip to and from Ohio this week, Emily and the kids caught up on the Simply Strategic Show podcasts. After playing several shows for them, I played the inaugural Catalyst Podcast featuring Andy Stanley for me. Honestly, I didn’t think the kids were listening. About midway through the Catalyst podcast, though, I heard a faint whisper from the rear seat. I overheard one of the kids lean over to Emily and say, "I like Dad’s podcast better." It was the quiet reflection of one small voice, but the magnitude of the statement reverberated through the walls of our minivan. At least in the mind of one nameless child, my podcast is better than Andy Stanley’s.

As someone who just finished both “Creating Community” and the “7 Practices of Effective Ministry,” that is high praise. I guess I’ll have to start buying your books and not just checking out your blog. :)
Seriously, I have a question.
Of your books, which would you most recommend for folks embarking on a church plant.
That is priceless.
After listening to both I am going to have to agree with your daughter.
Um, you were in Ohio thinking of Catalyst and you didn’t stop by to say hi???
Dan, my personal favorite is Simply Strategic Growth. All three, though, would certainly benefit you as a church planter. And, remember, Granger was a church plant 20 short years ago.

Thanks Tony.
I agree with the voice from the back seat.
what more qualified voting could you get? your own kid AND andy stanley himself!
i love the fact that both of these podcasts are up – and i hope y’all’s kids keep thinking their dads’ podcast is the best. if/when i do my own, i certainly will have my kids be beta listeners before i go live.
Andy Stanley left a comment on my blog. I should just retire from blogging right now. I’ve reached the pinnacle. There’s no place to go from here.
Actually, my next goal in blogging is to see if I can get all five of my backyard barbecue guests to comment on my blog. Maybe my next post will be about how my son thinks my golf swing is better than Phil Mickelson’s…

Hey man, we are glad you (and your kids) are listening to Catalyst!
Thanks, “Catalyst” for chiming in. Keep those podcasts coming! (And, let me know if you you’re looking for a Catalyst alumni member from Indiana to be on one of your upcoming episodes.)
