Congrats Kem!
If you notice, Tony said free hamburger, you're responsible for bringing your own bun and condiments.

Well, the winner is...Kem Meyer. She guessed two hours. Emily timed me at exactly 1 hour and 55 minutes. Kem, I'll let you arrange with Emily for a time to redeem your free grilled hamburger coupon for you and your family.

I do, however, want to give a special honorable mention prize to Amber Cox. Amber, you and Ryan are also invited to join me for a backyard hamburger whenever your schedule allows for that. Anyone that would think my handyman skills are good enough to beat the estimated assembly time deserves a free hamburger. Yes, brown nosing works.

I am still a purist (charcoal all the way baby!), but have assembled enough swing sets and desks to know that the people who write the instruction manual actually live in a different country and speak a different language than those who build the products. Additionally, those who write the instruction manual have never actually seen the product live, they have only seen roughly-translated emails of the product description. Based upon that knowledge, I don't see how you could get this thing assembled in less than 4 hours. So the official "Price Is Right" guess is 8 hours and 15 minutes. I'm counting this as start to finish. I know that twice you stopped and had to walk away so that absolute frustration would not take over. These crucial breaks are still on the clock, part of the whole start to finish timing.

So I'm excited for the burger. Are you throwing in air fare from Portland, Oregon as well? :)

I'm going to say...400 minutes?

Also, I wonder if there aren't better, more efficient ways of designing grills to allow for easier assembly? Maybe they keep them somewhat complicated in order to enhance the initial grilling experience? Perhaps this could serve as the springboard for your next book, "Simply Strategic Grill Assembly"? ;-)

My mantra is, "Everything takes way longer than you think." When I estimate a job time, my wife always tells me to multiply it by 3. I once had a quick plumbing job to do in our basement. Denise asked, "How long do you think it will take you?" I thought it would take me 20 minutes, so I multiplied it by 3. "1 hour," I said." "So 3 hours then," she said. I said, "No, I already did the multiply by 3 thing." Denise said, "Whatever. It'll still take you 3 hours." Guess who was right? Therefore I have to guess it took you a mere 6 hours to assemble your many man's man grill.

No one has guessed that it took you less time than expected, so I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say 36 minutes.

Does brown nosing get me a burger?

If a Weber is as hard tot put together as no-namer grill, I will guess about 4 hours 12 minutes.
