Carolina In My Mind

I’m on a trip with Mark and Tim visiting four churches in the Carolinas. All four of these churches also happen to be on "my radar." (See the left sidebar of my site.)

Today, we stopped by Charlotte South Fellowship in Matthews, NC. Kenny Hibbard, the lead pastor, showed us around their brand new 23,000 square-foot facility that will open next weekend. We also had the chance to hang out with their staff team for lunch. Loved the chance to hear what was happening in their ministry. I think we’re going to hear a lot about Charlotte South Fellowship in the coming years. They’re doing a unique ministry in this region.

We then headed north and stopped by Mecklenburg Community Church. I’ve heard a lot about Mecklenburg’s ministry through the years, so it was fun to finally meet Jim White, the founding pastor, and get a tour of the Meck facility. Among other things, Jim shared with us a little bit about his recent transition to the role of president of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Tomorrow, we have a couple of more stops. We’re heading to South Carolina. We’re planning to see this guy. It should be quite an adventure.

p.s. "Carolina In My Mind" is one of my favorite James Taylor songs. I love his greatest hits album when I need to move into Mr. Mello mood.

Don’t tell me you’re coming all the way to SC and visiting us at Seacoast!

Actually that was supposed to say “Don’t tell me you’re coming all the way to SC and NOT visiting us at Seacoast!”

Geoff, I feel so sad. We’re on the wrong side of SC. We’re going to have to catch you the next time we come through the state. We’ll be back though. I promise.

    Tony,

We were happy to host you and feed you. I was so impressed with you and the gang, I decided to actually respond to a Blog. Just know, that this is the first time I have ever responded to any blog of anykind. Now that I am starting to be cool and emerging, I need to get a new emerging haircut.
