Here’s the "box score" for this past weekend at Granger Community Church.

Music: "King Without a Crown" by Matisyahu; "Made to Worship" by Chris Tomlin

Message: "iWorship" — Rob Wegner, Pastor of Life Development, challenged us about worship suggesting it’s not about getting more religious activity in our lives. He explained that worship is a lifestyle that includes every area of our lives. In life, it’s not what we do that matters; it’s who we do it for. "So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life–your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life–and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him" Romans 12:1 (The Message).

Facemusic_1_1Service Highlights: Obviously since this series is about finding God in your iPod, the service and message revolved around music. This week, the featured number was "King Without a Crown" by Matisyahu. I think it could very well be the first time we’ve ever heard a reggae song at Granger Community Church. It was, well, fascinating. People really enjoyed it, and this particularly song offered a great opportunity to talk about worship.

Stats: 5,144 total attendance (4,065 adults + 1,079 kids); 0.3% increase from same weekend last year

Percentage of weekend attendance by service:

  1. Sun 10:15 am = 28%
  2. Sat 5:30 pm = 21%
  3. Sun 11:45 am = 20%
  4. Sat 7:30 pm = 19%
  5. Sun 8:45 am = 12%

Final Notes: We’ve given away a free iPod at every service during this series. We’ve selected the winners in different ways each weekend. This weekend, balloons were dropped from the catwalks. The crowd popped the balloons and one person found a message inside indicating they had won the iPod.
