Box Score for Weekend of June 24/25
Here’s the "box score" for this past weekend at Granger Community Church.
Music: "Legacy" by Nichole Nordeman
Message: "From Flashbang to Teethmarks" — Mark Steele, president and executive creative of Steelehouse Productions, shared Bible passages and stories to encourage us to get over ourselves and focus on loving God and others by putting our faith into action. Mark is the author of Flashbang, a book released in July 2005 by Relevant Books. The book contains a collection of humorous essays, and I reviewed the book here on my blog several months ago. You can learn more about the book by visiting the Flashbang website.
Service Highlights: The arts team set up Mark’s message with some parodies of old Saturday Night Live skits including Mr. Bill and the Spartan Cheerleaders. My favorite moment, though, was seeing Stuart Smalley help Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis learn that life isn’t all about winning football "matches." It was classic.
Stats: 4,838 total attendance (3,868 adults + 970 kids); 4.7% increase from same weekend last year
Percentage of weekend attendance by service:
- Sun 10:15 am = 27%
- Sat 7:30 pm = 19%
- Sun 11:45 am = 19%
- Sat 5:30 pm = 19%
- Sun 8:45 am = 16%
Final Notes: Mark Beeson will call a timeout from the current series this coming weekend to talk about America and God.
