Summer Vacation Day Two

Yesterday was a great day. Here are a few more highlights from our summer vacation.

  • We started out the morning at Cornerstone Church in Litchfield. That’s where Tim is the senior pastor. Cornerstone is in a brand new facility. They’ve grown from 300 to 400 people in the last year or so. God’s doing a great work through this ministry. My key take-away from Tim’s message was that "clarity creates confidence." He preached from the first chapter of Matthew about the fact that Jesus came to save us from our sins. That Tim–he’s always preaching about Jesus.
  • Jacob shot a BB gun for the first time yesterday. He had a great time blowing arms and legs off of little plastic army men from point blank range. One of these days he may be ready to join Pastor Mark on one of his big hunts.
  • I shot a couple of birdies yesterday as well, but mine were on the golf course. Tim and I are playing the Minnesota Open over the next several days. We are the only two entrants. I’m happy to say I’m leading by one stroke after the first round. I shot a 44 on the front nine and a 36 on the back nine. That 36 tied my all-time low score for 9 holes. I’m pretty pumped about that. I was hoping I could be ahead by a few more strokes after posting an 80, but Tim is hanging in there pretty well.
  • Last night we went to McDonald’s to rent a DVD. Litchfield is very progressive. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen DVD rentals at a McDonald’s. Pretty cool when you can get a burger, fries and a DVD all in the same stop. However, the DVD machine did not work, so we ended up watching the Sum of All Fears with Morgan Freeman and Ben Affleck. Pretty good flick.

I’ll get you an update on the Minnesota Open in the coming days.
