Summer Vacation Day Seven
The Morgan Family FunFest continued today with a stop in the Windy City. Here are the highlights:
- We woke up this morning and enjoyed one final trip to the indoor waterpark at the Kalahari. The kids spent quite a bit of time in the wave pool. Pretty fun.
- On the drive between the Wisconsin Dells and Chicago, I just about wrapped up listening to Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. It’s about the power of thinking without thinking–which I thought would be a good book for a simply strategic guy like me. Gladwell makes the case by outlining research and sharing stories that better decisions are made with less information (if it’s the right information).
- We drove straight to downtown Chicago, and Emily and I split up. She took Abby and Brooke, our two youngest daughters to the American Girl Place. Again, this demonstrates that I’m a simply strategic guy because my girls got to enjoy the American Girl Place experience, and I didn’t have to enjoy it.
- While the other three were playing with dolls, Jacob, Kayla and I had the opportunity to tour the National League’s oldest ballpark, Wrigley Field. It was incredible! This was our first visit to Wrigley. Among other things, we saw the press box, the Cub’s clubhouse, the famed bleachers behind the ivy outfield wall and the Cub’s dugout. It was pretty cool walking on the field and knowing baseball greats had shared that same experience since 1914.
Tomorrow we wrap up our summer vacation and head home. We may have one or two fun stops on the way.
