Summer Vacation Day Eight
We’re back home in Granger after a full eight days on the road. Here are the highlights from our final day.
- We woke up yesterday morning and enjoyed the hotel breakfast and pool.
- The girls stopped in Old Navy for a little clearance sale shopping, and the men stopped into Best Buy for a little camcorder shopping. Our camera died. We’ve never owned a camcorder. I’m thinking about replacing the camera with a camcorder. Feel free to send advice if you have it.
- After lunch, we headed back to downtown Chicago and stopped at the Lincoln Park Zoo. The gorillas seemed to be the big hit.
- On the way home, Jacob peed in a cup for the first time while we were trying to get out of downtown Chicago. He was laughing the whole time. The funny thing is we’ve had all kinds of fantastic vacation experiences over the last eight days, but 20 years from now the only thing Jacob is going to remember is the time he peed in a cup under the shadow of the Sears Tower.
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to make it back home for the Saturday evening services at Granger. In other words, I haven’t heard Corey’s message yet. We’re going this morning. I can’t wait.

Congratulations Jacob!! You’ve graduated to the bigtime – joining the ranks of every grown man on the face of the planet – now an official member of the half of all humans who can pee in unusual places because you were born with the appropriate equipment for doing so. I’m sure your father is very proud! ;)
