I thought I’d try to scoop the remaining Fellowship Church bloggers. Looks like the church, led by Senior Pastor Ed Young, has launched their newest campus in South Miami, Florida. That’s a big leap from the Dallas/Ft. Worth region where their four other campuses are located.
I can’t wait until Granger starts opening satellite campuses in exotic locations. I’m looking for a way to express my spiritual gifts in the area of golf evangelism–preferably someplace where palm trees grow.
UPDATE: Fellowship Church has released a few more details about their Miami campus on the Creative Pastors blog.

Tony, I was at the last two regional C3 conferences in Miami. The first was at Flamingo Road. The second was at 1st Baptist South Miami. I was lost in the crowd at Flamingo Road’s incredible facility. At FBC South Miami, I was one of about 12-15 lead pastors. The conference was still great. I sat on the front row and was a prop for Ed’s seminar.
At one point, Ed Young made mention of lame pink walls…while surrounded by pink walls. FBC South Miami looked like it got hit by a 1980’s interior designer with big hair and neon leggings. The conference in that venue didn’t make sense.
Anyway, at the first break, I told some from our group that the only reason I could think of for that venue was that they would be opening a Fellowship location in that church. Three days later I got a call from another pastor asking if I had heard anything about it.
Well, very cool! I’m excited. The largest English speaking church in Miami (that I know of) is Christ Fellowship. I think they have around 3,000 people. In a town of 3-4,000,000, that isn’t much. There is much work to be done and much opportunity for ministry in this incredible city.
Kudos to Ed Young for having big vision. Mad props to all the pastors in Miami that work in a challenging environment and love this city in a big way!
Welcome to South Florida Fellowship! We look forward to having you in our area. We had heard whisperings that they might do this a few years ago, but not much talk lately.
My wife and I honeymooned in St. Lucia (2 years ago today, actually). I was joking with one of the tour guides, a believer, and told him that I felt like God was calling me to plant a church in St. Lucia.
He was completely stone-faced when he replied, “Don’t do it. You Americans never hack it over here. You like the resorts too much and get scared when you see the real needs.” Kind of sobering.
It takes a special kind of person/people to go to an environment like that. But Fellowship will do well in Miami.
Fellowship Church Hits the East Coast
Fellowship Church (Grapevine, TX) is launching yet another campus. This time it is not in Texas but Miami, FL. Congratulations to Ed Young and the rest of his team for the newest and fifth addition to the multi-site church.
Special thanks to Tony Morga…
