Focused Fertility

I apologize in advance. I don’t typically offer this type of "insider" information regarding my ministry team. In an effort to avoid any personal implications; however, I’ve decided to be proactive in my defense.

You may or may not be aware that four people on my immediate staff team have recently announced pregnancies. Let me quickly roll through the current situation:

  • Jami, my assistant, was just surprised to learn that she’s pregnant with her second baby.
  • Andy, our systems integration specialist, recently shared that he and his wife are expecting their second baby as well.
  • Jason, our director of technology, just announced today that they’re having #3.
  • Corey, our director of high school ministry, has only been working for me for 6 months. He and his wife have wanted to have a second child for many years. They didn’t get pregnant until he started working for me.

There’s a little bit more information that I need to admit. I’ve had four administrative assistants since coming to Granger. Three of them got pregnant with their first children while working for me. The fourth one never got pregnant, but she actually transitioned away from working for me to assist Tim. That may be why she left.

Before the rumors begin to fly, I’d just like to emphasize I had absolutely nothing to do with any of these pregnancies. Though, I admit, I’m all for married couples staying "randy" with each other. And, it’s quite possible that this influence has indirectly impacted my team members and led to this surge in pregnancies.

Given the current pattern of announcements, I will not be surprised to learn that Kem is pregnant…or wants a transfer.

And, in case you’re wondering, this is certainly "simply strategic growth."

We have had 45 babies born since we started Ridge Stone 24 months ago. I often joke that I am going to write a book called Building a Church through child birth. :)
