On our way home from the Cubs game last night, we were listening to the radio. In between songs, the DJ mentioned that the two largest cities in the United States share a unique distinction. The DJ explained that New York City and now Los Angeles both do not have country music stations. I guess KZLA in Los Angeles changed to a pop format last week.
It had been quiet in the back seat of my car for several miles. Upon hearing the news, though, Jacob spoke up and said, "Dad, maybe we should move to Los Angeles."
This was a great reminder to "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it" (Proverbs 22:6). I love my son. And, I love it that we share common disinterests.

Tony,
You may have the smartest kid ever or you have some stellar parenting skills.

May my wife and I be so blessed when our new daughter (I can say that now…yeah!) is born! :-)
Boooooo…hissssssss!! Long live country!
Hey Tony – heard you’re a really big Sheryl Crow fan, huh? You might be interested in her most recent interview with Larry King… in fact, here’s a little excerpt for you:
KING: Are you primarily a country singer? Would you call yourself a country singer?
CROW: God. By today’s standards I guess I’m more country than anything else. I couldn’t say that I’m really so much pop anymore and I don’t think rock really even exists, so I guess I’m more country. Which I like.
And just to prove that I’m not making this up…read for yourself here:

Real bummer for you, I know. I almost hate to be the one to break the news to you. ;)
Becky, the first cut is the deepest. For the sake of our friendship, I’ll pretend you never raised this. iTunes says Sheryl Crow is in the “pop” category. She must have been in a weak and vulnerable moment with Larry King. I’ve heard those suspenders he wears can be mesmerizing and hypnotizing and they make people say things they wouldn’t normally say. In my mind, Sheryl is the queen of pop.

Da’ Nile isn’t just a river in Egypt, my friend. I’ll let you live there for now, but some day it’s all going to come crashing down around you. Because I’m your friend, I will, of course, be there to help you pick up the pieces of your shattered life and assist you as you take steps into the harsh, cold world the rest of us call “reality.”
