Here are my thoughts and highlights from Obadiah as I continue my journey through the Bible:

The Edomites didn’t treat God’s people very well. Obadiah had the job of telling them what they did was wrong. For example:

  • They gloated when their brothers were down-and-out.
  • The laughed and joked when Judah’s sons were facedown in the mud.
  • They talked big when everything was bad.
  • They took advantage of people when their lives had fallen apart.

Obadiah reminded the Edomites that God isn’t always a "nice guy." Sometimes he displays his wrath. With that, Obadiah reminded us to "rule justly and fairly" in a way that honors God. It’s a good reminder that we have to steward our leadership responsibilities well.
