Googlishious
I’ve been struck in recent days about how much Google has made life easier for me. Here are just a few examples:
- Last night I wrote an article for OutreachMagazine.com using Google Docs (which happens to now be combined with Google Spreadsheets).
- I use Gmail for all my non-church email communications. Love how it groups messages from ongoing conversations.
- I use Google Mobile Mail on my RAZR phone to check email on the road.
- This weekend I used Google Mobile Maps to track down New Life Community Church in Canal Winchester, Ohio.
- And, frequently in recent days I’ve used Google Desktop to find an email message or document that I remember writing months ago but couldn’t track down in Microsoft Outlook.
Thanks Google! You’re making me look smarter than I really am.

I’m no Google fanboy. Sometimes it’s scary to think of how much information they have on me. In fact, I’ve begun scaling back how I use their services in an effort to keep my identity mine. :)
But I do love so many of their services. My favorite is SMS. It saves me from spending money on 411.

I was having similar thoughts not that long ago, but then I began to wonder is Google running my life?
And if you’d like to avoid the sms charges, you can call 1-800-373-3411. It’s ad-supported 411, except they don’t connect you. You have to write down or remember the number.
Yeah, sms is probably easier. :)
I like Google… mainly because they’re stuff is free. :)
I haven’t used Google Docs yet, other than just playing around. I’m never in a situation where I’d need it, since I work from a laptop all the time. And since my laptop is a Mac, I don’t need Google Desktop. Spotlight handles that already.
I couldn’t agree more…although at $500 a share…I wish I didn’t have to type anything at all. I wish Google could just read my mind! Nonetheless…Google, I love you!
