Where in the World is Terry Storch?

Terrystorch
About 18 months ago, I started blogging. There were a handful of people that really encouraged me to move forward. Terry Storch from Fellowship Church was one of those people. Though we don’t get a chance to hear from Terry on a daily basis anymore, he’s still a great encouragement to me in my leadership and ministry. I thought it might be fun for you to catch up with what’s happening in his life.

TONY: What’s been happening in your life the last 12 months?

TERRY: Wow, it might be easier for me to answer what has not happened in my life in the last year. Let me start with some generic things and lead up to the biggest. Robin and I moved to the Downtown Dallas area this year. I fully embraced my new role/job as a Campus Pastor this year. I got serious about my health and lost 35 lbs. Our youngest daughter turned two, and our four year old started reading. All great, although some a little more stressful than others.

The biggest for me in the last year is my spiritual growth. This year I feel like God has just been using me as a punching bag. You know those times that God is growing you, but it really stretches you and is a little painful? Well, this year is like I am one of the unfortunate guys who gets the *blank* kicked out of him in the outstanding movie Fight Club. From the move to Dallas, the new and very humbling role as Campus Pastor, growing as a father and most importantly a husband, God has grown me more this year than ever. Is it too much to ask for God to use some type of numbing agent? A great year for sure! I am just so blown away that God loves us so much that He invests in us much as He does. Truly a humbling thought.

TONY: I know you partnered with Brian Bailey on The Blogging Church book that will be released in January 2007. What was your biggest learning from that project?

TERRY: At the end of the day, I am not a gifted writer. I am so much more an idea guy, thought leader and framework guy. Praise God for Brian, he is such a gifted writer and there is no way The Blogging Church book would of ever finished without his amazing dedication.

TONY: What’s the latest book you’ve read that you’d recommend to other leaders?

TERRY: I am in the middle of 5 books right now. I am having a blast reading Mark Batterson’s, In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day. It has really impacted my life by the way that I look at risk taking. Being a natural risk taker, this book really opened my eyes to living life on the edge for Christ.

TONY: What new idea is stretching your thinking these days?

TERRY: Taking risks for Christ. Taking risks that are not comfortable. Taking risks that are not about "me." Taking risks that might cost you everything that is of this world.

Thinking like this forces you to live a faith driven life. I have also found that even though faith is easy to talk and right about, living it out is a totally different story!

TONY: If you were stranded on a deserted island and had access to only one website, which one would you choose?

TERRY: Google.com. Do you really need any other website?

Terry Storch is the Campus Pastor at Fellowship Church Downtown in Dallas, Texas. And, among other things, Terry continues to be a thought-leader on technology and multi-site strategy in the local church.

So good to hear the ‘voice’ of Terry Storch online again… hey, Ben, if you love the hair, you gotta see the boots! I saw Terry briefly almost a month ago, and he’s got some kickin’ boots to go with that hair! :)
