Here’s the "box score" for this past weekend at Granger Community Church.

Music: "Pride (In the Name of Love)," "Vertigo," and "40" by U2; "World" by Five for Fighting

Message: "Vertigo" — Mark Beeson,
Senior Pastor, talked about the paradoxes we sometimes find in the Bible. He cited, as an example, Mark 10:41-45 where Jesus taught "whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave to all." Mark also explained how people look at their stuff (time, possession, money, relationships, etc.) as either seed or harvest. Some gain stuff, become content with their harvest and do nothing assuming they’ve arrived. Others gain stuff and want to use it as seed to continue to help others and expand God’s Kingdom. He challenged us to decide whether or not we look at what God gives us as seed or harvest.

Service Highlights:
It would almost be impossible for me to identify one specific highlight from this service. I’ve been attending services at Granger for over eight years, and, in my opinion, this is one of the top five services I’ve experienced. It was an incredible example of fully integrating one message throughout the entire service. I highly recommend taking the time to view the service online.

Stats: 6,352 total attendance (5,000 adults + 1,352 kids); 29.8% increase from similar weekend last year

Percentage of weekend attendance by service:

  1. Sun 10:15 am = 28%
  2. Sat 5:30 pm = 22%
  3. Sun 11:45 am = 21%
  4. Sat 7:30 pm = 16%
  5. Sun 8:45 am = 13%

Final Notes: Folks really seem to be resonating with this series. Our attendance was up almost 1,500 people from where we were this time last year. There also seems to be a lot of buzz surrounding the 20 Days of Giving. It’s a lot of fun when you’re experiencing momentum in ministry.
