Empty Boxes, Barbecue, Accounting Songs and Concealed Weapons

This week, I hope to return to normal blogging, but, in the mean time, here are more updates on what’s been happening our first few days in Anderson.

  • I just unpacked the last box at the apartment. Emily and I were just talking about how hard it is to believe that last week at this time, we were back in our home in Granger pretty much living life as normal. And, here we are, less than a week later, and we’ve set up our new, temporary home and we’re ready for business.
  • Yesterday, one of my stops was the cable company. I found it funny that they had a sign prominently displayed at the front door making it clear that concealed weapons were not allowed inside the cable company offices. Number one, that’s something you wouldn’t see in Indiana. Number two, if anyone should be worried about concealed weapons, it should probably be the cable company.
  • I was introduced to Carolina barbecue last night. Yummy!
  • We’re looking forward to our first services at NewSpring as a family tomorrow. What makes it even more exciting is that we’re launching a new series tomorrow called "Cars." I’ve heard about some of the elements for tomorrow’s services, and all I can say is that it’s going to be a very memorable first weekend.
  • I found out my office at the church is going to be between Paul (the Chief Financial Officer) and Shane (the Creative Arts Pastor). I figure with that influence, I’ll probably not be able to get songs out of my head that include numbers. For example, I may start constantly humming Chicago’s "25 or 6 to 4." Or, maybe it’ll be the song "Four Days" by the AcCounting Crows.
  • Speaking of music, I’ve pre-ordered tobyMac’s new album, Portable Sounds, which releases on February 20. tobyMac rocks! He’s one of only a few Christian artists that makes my iPod playlists.
