Craig opened by indicating the title of the session is “You’re an idiot.” He went on to explain, “When someone says ‘Bless your heart,” what they really mean is “You’re an idiot.” Here’s what Craig had to share:

  • Who does God most often use to turn “What If” into “What is?” God uses insecure, risk-taking, pain-enduring idiots.
  • Acts 4:13 > They were “unschooled, ordinary men.”
  • Jesus Christ, the Son of God, would not be qualified to minister in most churches.
  • “Man’s system screws up God’s work.”
  • “God specializes in using those that are insecure.” Moses. Gideon.
  • “In ministry we say ‘It’s all Him” when it’s really all me.”
  • “Don’t ever become good. When you do, you freeze. Don’t ever become good.”
  • In what area of ministry have you become dangerously good in your own knowledge and abilities?
  • To really follow Jesus, you have to learn to be comfortable in a perpetual state of discomfort.
  • Don’t stop taking risks.
  • Hebrews 11:6 > Impossible to please God without faith. You cannot play it safe.
  • Worry when people stop saying “That idea won’t work.” That’s when you’ve stopped following the voice of God.
  • What faith risks is God calling you to take?
  • If our goal is comfort and safety, we are following a false God. Embrace the pain. The world hates you.
  • “Sometimes the right thing hurts people. Sometimes the difference between where you are and where God’s wants you to be is the pain you’re unwilling to endure.”
  • What painful decision have you been avoiding?
  • Are you serving the church more than you’re serving Him?

Here’s my observation–Craig is the real deal. First time I’ve heard him live. He’s not dynamic, but he is real. Loved this session. Solid from beginning to end.
