Unleash Comments/Feedback

In case you’re following my blog through an RSS feed reader of some sort, you may want to actually visit the website and engage in the conversation taking place following Perry’s sessions yesterday. The comments are starting to pile up. Here are the links:

If you participated in yesterday’s conference, I’d also love your feedback. What worked? What could we improve?

    The Great

    - Volunteers were off the hook. Cant say it enough. I asked one volunteer where I could get some water. She said stay right here – and went sprinting out of the hall, up the stairs, and back down with a bottle in hand. She could have just said – its “other there”

    - Music was incredible. Props to the music team.

    - Graphics and video bumpers were great!

    - Perry hit it out of the park. Twice!

    - Lunch was GREAT – Awesome BBQ and we live for BBQ in Alabama. I was supposed to go to the Sr. Pastor lunch but when I saw what the far was – I opted for the BBQ. Great job feeding 900. Im sure the volunteers wondered how Jesus fed 5000 with just 12 volunteers. It was a little hectic in there – but they pulled it off – have I said your volunteers are great!?!

    Suggestions:

Most of my team would have preferred some “meat and bones” on the breakouts instead of Q&A format. I’d like to see a more formal “here’s how we do what we do” and then “now what questions do you have?” A mix of both would be great!

A one day conference is great – unless you have to travel far to get there. Having a “pre-conference” or something other than just the main day might help those that travel farther get more for their time investment. I had 11 hours round trip on the road. I got fed spiritually (and the BBQ was freakin awesome) but left wanting more – much more.

Add something specifically for smaller churches and church plants. How can we do creative and excellent with fewer resources of personnel and equipment and budget. It was alluded to in most sessions – and Perry did a good job with the skittles illustration – but its hard to take whats working for 5000+ and bring it back to 125 sometimes.

Put more NewSpring pastors on stage for main sessions (yes you need 2 days I guess). Dont bring in superstars from around the country like other leadership conferences. Put the NewSpring pastors and staff on the stage and let them challenge us in areas of creativity, worship, guest experiences etc…

This was my third conference in 6 weeks (C3, Churchplanters.com, and Unleash). This was by far the best.

Oh – Mellow Yellow isn’t the same as Mountain Dew but Im letting that one slide because of the Oreos :-)

Thanks for fielding all my questions yesterday Tony. I was mentioning to a friend that I loved that there was an actual breakout session entirely on blogging. Look forward to getting to know you in time.

I agree with Dave on most of his suggestions. Our team did LOVE being there, and also left wanting more!
I think the Q&A thing was good for the very first year, but next year would be great to add other speakers/teachers AND feature more from the NewSpring pastors.
I threw some pix up on my blog if anyone would like to grab some.
    Blessings!
