300, 50 Important People and a Couple of Critics
All is quiet at the Morgan apartment this evening. That gives me the perfect opportunity to unpack some of the thoughts floating around in my brain. In no particular order:
- I’m listening to Aqualung’s newly released album, Memory Man, this evening. If you crave hip tunes with a piano influence, this may be your style. Of course, according to iTunes, Aqualung listeners also bought music by Nick Lachey, so consider yourself warned. In my opinion, though, Memory Man makes good chill-out, blogging music.
- The Bradford Pear trees are in full bloom here in Anderson. It’s beautiful. I’ve never seen so many white-flowered trees in my life.
- Emily and I saw 300 yesterday. It lives up to the hype. Powerful!
- PC World revealed their list of the 50 Most Important People on the Web. Don’t worry. You’re not on the list.
- I’m in the middle of a little blog exchange with some new friends on Scott Hodge’s site. Life is a lot more fun with critics, don’t you think?

yeah, thanks.
:)
Couldn’t agree more, 300 was great. Thanks for your blog! It’s been fun reading through your transition and your notes from the conference.
Tony,
I drove 11 hours with 3 guys on staff eith me to attend UNLEASH. God really used it validate to us that we are going the right direction and need to keep focused on mission! I also was in your blogging track. Thanks, bro! By the way, I pastored in Osceola, IN before moving to PA. Not many people have ever heard of Osceola but I bet you have!
I believe the Simply Strategic podcast was recorded in Osceola if I remember correctly. It’s put Osceola on the map!

To all: Just like e-mail, blog postings and comments are misinterpreted at least half the time. I felt that I was. I also read my comments and realize why. Anyone reading my comments would have no idea where I am in my spiritual journey and the heart that is behind the comments. I did not air my words in a constructive and appropriate way.
Late last night I read Tony’s retort back to me before I went to bed. I went to bed with a huge knot in my stomach and had trouble falling asleep, not because of what you wrote Tony, but b/c the H.S. convicted me of my words and engagement in the negative rhetoric with other believers. He convicted me with 2 Timothy 2:22-23, “Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.” Yeah!?! Try to sleep with that on your mind! Not easy!
So I woke this morning feeling compelled to respond in a loving way. I obviously hurt you Tony and others that attend New Spring; this was and is not my heart’s intention. It seems that you take a lot of shots from “critics” and I am not one! It makes me sad to see the negativity that seems to bounce off of you and others. That must be difficult to deal with. I trust and pray that you and your ministry are being used by God in a powerful way to further his kingdom, in heaven and on earth! I trust that your God gifted creativity spurs others to a deeper relationship with Jesus.
So to this end I want to apologize for my loosely used words, Please forgive me.
Scott – I want to apologize for participating in this dialogue on your blog. The comments have become nothing about your post! I hope that God used your time at Unleash to confirm his work that he continues to do in you and at The Orchard.
In His Grip,
Mike
P.S. I will not be checking this post anymore, so if anyone would like to respond to me you can do so at my site via my e-mail link.
Way to funny…
300 did rock…loved the story and impossible odds.
Keep on rocking and being who you be…I’m glad you’re not all uppity tight like a lot of church people are. People in church get so offended. If we got to put up with people launching the first stone in sarcasm and who know what they are about to get themselves into then come on.
Some people need to come down off their water walking trip and get down in the real world. Sarcasm is great and Tony was just being Tony.
You go bro…I got ya back.
Dude if I ever lay some stupid stuff like that on a post then you better slap me with some sarcasm bro.
