Here are some fascinating facts on volunteerism as reported in the April issue of Men’s Health:

  • Women are more likely than men to volunteer.
  • 32% of women serve in some volunteer capacity compared to 25% of men.
  • Working mothers are the most active as volunteers.
  • Busy people are more likely to volunteer.

Unfortunately, the magazine didn’t report the source of the national survey results. I found the last statement to be the most interesting. It’s a good reminder that potential volunteers within the church are probably already busy doing something outside the church. They’re more likely to say yes, though, if someone taps their shoulder.

By the way, the same issue reports that 58% of couples that cook together have a satisfying sex life compared with only 30% of couples who rarely cook together. Now you know how to get more volunteers and more…well…more baked goods.
