Box Score for April 8, 2007

Here’s the "box score" for this Sunday at NewSpring Church.

Music:
"It’s Not Over" by Daughtry; Check out the rest of the setlist on Lee’s blog

Message: "Running from the Spotlight? Leave Me Alone!" — Perry Noble, Senior Pastor, introduced the "America’s Idol" series which is focusing on the story of Jonah from the Bible. Perry explained that we have two choices: We can either run from God, or we can return to God. Initially, Jonah was a runner. In fact, we’re all either runners or former runners. In this message, Perry walked through many verses from the first three chapters of Jonah. He concluded the message by challenging folks to stop running and turn to God.

Service Highlights:
There are almost too many highlights to mention from this weekend’s service. The opening counter that the media team produced with ministry event commercials was hilarious. The band’s cover of Daughtry’s song was amazing. I also loved the last number in the service which told the story of Jonah in a clever way and reminded us that God gives us a second chance. Good stuff.

Stats: 10,707 total attendance; 3,262 person increase (43.8%) from Easter weekend last year

Final Notes: I was praising Jesus all weekend long that we didn’t have to hear "Jesus, Take the Wheel." Something tells me, though, that I’m not going to avoid the sappy country songs for very long.

How many new salvations did you have? and how many re-dedications?

Lani, I haven’t heard any official counts for adults yet, but I do know that 95 third through fifth graders accepted Christ this weekend. That’s pretty cool!

Congrats, you guys! We had an awesome Easter up here at Elevation (elevationchurch.org) as well. With the new campus and all the new gear, we have an A/V Trailer… we accidentally tripped the stage left breaker during first service with our portable heater… toughed it out the rest of the morning.
It is awesome to see how God isn’t letting up on you in His plans. Keep it up, y’all!

Yeah, how many salvations? How many changed lives? Now that would be a “box score!” But based on your stats – you must be successful!!

How did you break that 10K mark? Are you bonused on your growth percentage? How do I buy New Spring stock? What is the symbol on the exchange?

Who Cares, sorry, but this isn’t the place to pick fights…especially for cowards who are afraid to reveal their true identity.

By the way, I think you need to be careful about judging the intent of other Christ-followers and ministries. As a refresher, you may want to heed this warning that the Pharisees received in Acts 5:

“Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God” (Acts 5:38-39).

You are not my judge. I’m accountable to God, not you, for the spiritual lives of the people he places in my care (Hebrews 13:17). And, frankly, I wouldn’t want to worship your god if you think he’s so small that you have to do the judging for him.

Sorry, Who Cares, it’s my blog and you wouldn’t play nice, so I deleted your comments and have blocked you from commenting in the future. This isn’t a forum for arguing. There are plenty of other blogs where you can do that.

Thanks Tony for being blunt…always love to see it. I love your blog and find inspiration in the “box scores”…a challenge as well. Thanks for protecting the space.
