Just got out of a staff meeting. Perry spoke for a few minutes about how he’s praying for the staff. One of the things he mentioned he prays for is unity. He acknowledged that the bigger the church gets, the harder it is to maintain unity. On that topic, here are a couple of quick points he shared:

  • "We probably aren’t going to do a lot more than we’re doing right now." Basically he was suggesting if you don’t like what we’re doing now, you better find someplace else to serve. God has given us a plan to reach people for Christ in the Upstate of South Carolina, and we’re going to stick to that plan.
  • "We’ll do what we do better." That’s what I love about Perry’s leadership–he’s always stretching us. He’s passionately pursuing God’s vision for this ministry. He’s obedient to his calling. He’s stewarding his leadership and communication gifts well. And God is blessing his ministry. With that responsibility, he’s also stretching the rest of us not to be satisfied or content. God’s not done with us yet. We’ve only begun. There’s a new place that God wants to take us, because there are still people in our region that need to know the forgiveness, love and hope found in Jesus Christ.

I’d share more details about what Perry had to say about where we’re going as a ministry, but I don’t want to steal his thunder. I have a feeling he’ll have a lot more to share with the entire church on May 6. You’re not going to believe what’s coming next!
