Post #1,000 and I’m Throwing a Comment Party!

1000
It has taken me a little over two years, but this is it. This is post number 1,000! I thought it would be fun to celebrate by throwing my first-ever Blog Comment Party. That’s right. You’re invited to use this post to lay down a comment. The briefer the better. This is an all-play.

Here are some questions to prompt your comments and to start the party:

  • What countries are represented (Texas included)?
  • What "cool churches" do I need to check out?
  • Are there any slammin’ blogs that I need to start following?
  • What’s the best leadership book you’ve recently read?
  • Is Andy Stanley still lurking?
  • Are there any family members who wish I’d call instead of forcing you to read my blog?
  • Anyone seen a good I-laughed-so-hard-I-hurt movie recently?
  • Does Corey Mann still read my blog?
  • Anyone else think Brick House was the best funk song ever written?
  • Are you following my blog, but you’re afraid to post a comment because others would know you’re following my blog?
  • Anyone out there that’s never posted a comment on any blog?
  • Are there any NewSpringers in the house?

The party starts now. Invite your friends. The dress is casual…but please wear something when you’re commenting. I don’t want to have to picture you leaving a comment with just your skivvies on. I’ll provide the food and the music.

Let the Comment Party begin!

Ooo Ooo…By complete accident I get to be first to the party…like the annoying guy who shows up too early before you were actually ready to start the party..

Tony, love your blog man. Found out about you through the Simply Strategic Volunteers Book. It’s been a great blessing to the churches who have received it so far. Thanks for the insight and for keeping it real.

Tony, Congrats on the post. I got to give one of your books to a “Head Deacon” at a Seventh Day Adventist Church last night. They have boards upon boards…so I thought they might could use a little “reorganization”. Thanks for all you do to make the kingdom more inviting!

    TONY -
Love the blog – have you on MyGoogle. I’m the Worship Director, and a pianist/producer at St. Simons Community Church on St. Simons Island, GA – a beautiful vacation spot! I’m not a Newspringer, but one of my dearest friends is there. Miss the podcast. I’ve got my blog at http://www.fredmckinnon.com and do the Highest Praise Worship Podcast and Worship Interludes podcast, all on iTunes.

    Lastly, I’m a die-hard, 100% Mac Addict.

    For the Kingdom,

It’s an AWFUL movie when it comes to morality… but I nearly wet myself over 10 times watching Borat ;-)

  26. John Reddy April 22, 2007 at 12:34 pm #

I can’t disagree about “Brick House” or “Love Rollercoaster” as the funk song…. The Ohio Players were great but…. “Fire” is much better than “Love Rollercoaster”…. Also how about “We Got the Funk…. Give Up the Funk” by Parliament?????

  27. Tina Farber April 22, 2007 at 12:58 pm #

Hey Tony, Congrats on 1k. Newspringer here!

  28. jane muir April 22, 2007 at 2:22 pm #

    NewSpringer here!
Me, comment on a blog… never!
I personally like Play That Funky Music
And a leadership book that I got alot out of was Rudy Juliani’s (sp?). I know… he is in politics and controversial. But I did learn something from his book… 1)communication is a must 2)be prepared for anything, because it will happen 3)don’t just set back and assume that someone is doing it, check in on your workers and let them know that you will follow up with them!
Did you say something about short!?!

  29. Gena April 22, 2007 at 2:52 pm #

Reading you from Nevada. Will take this opportunity to promote my husband’s ministry. 1,000 posts!!

Wow… I have been blogging about the same amount of time and only managed 200 posts (which I just celebrated as well).

This means that in roughly the same amount of time you have posted 5X as much as I have.

That sounds about right for a pastor.

  53. Deanna April 23, 2007 at 9:25 am #

Another NewSpringer who has been reading since well before you were a NewSpringer! Congrats on the 1000th! :)

There once was a guy named Tony,
    He was very mature-no bolony,
    He once was my boss,
    Now I’ve suffered his loss,
    I’m not the Andy Stanley-phoney.

    So from your friend Corey,
    go see BLADES OF GLORY,
and read my blog for the rest of the story.

Yes, I read your blog from time to time,
Not reading would be a blogosphere crime,
You still throw me a link,
Your blog still makes me think,
    …..

    I ran out of rhyme.

I can’t rightly answer any of your questions, so i figured i would just leave a meaningless comment.

    I like funk.
    i like you.
    therefore, you are funky.

    yeah, maybe…faulty logic?

Hi Tony, been reading almost a year. I attend Community Christian Church in Naperville. http://www.communitychristian.org

I don’t know if it is “slammin” but my blog is http://icanseerightthroughyou.blogspot.com

My favorite section of your blog is Journey through the Bible.

Glad to be part of the party.

  91. Stephen April 24, 2007 at 2:12 pm #

I just wanted to say thank you to Tony Morgan. Since it is a post party, I thought now would appropriate to express my appreciation. I found out about the Unleash Conference from this blog, and as a result have found a source of inspiration and guidance in Newspring. As a minister in a church, and someone hoping to start a new church soon, I have learned a lot from Newspring and this blog. Thanks Tony.

Hey Tony. I enjoy reading your blog. I am a mere hour away from Anderson and am part of a new church plant in Laurens. Check us out!

Pudge (99, 100) I had this same thought last night, but I withheld myself. Today what I’m thinking is – Tony, we love your blog, so why should we end the party? 100+ and still counting…

  102. jenniferb April 25, 2007 at 12:52 pm #

    NewSpringer in the house!!!
Wild Hogs–hillarious laugh-out-loud movie where the whole theater errupts simultaneously into uncontrollable laughter–lots of good actors too! (I wouldn’t take the kids, though)

  103. Ken April 25, 2007 at 3:05 pm #

Not far down the road from you, here in Taylors, SC. Glad to see you followed my lead coming to a warmer setting than GCC. 1000 blogs! I’m a novice on blogging, and with your accomplishment, I have now had to redefine “reasonable and attainable (blog) goals”. Check out kenjnewton.com when you feel yourself getting too churchy.

    Congrats!

I’m double dipping in this party because I just have to know….A) is that a self portrait of your shoes? B) what’s up with the extra donut-like “0″ in front of 1,000?

    WOW…congrats on 1K!!! That’s awesome!
You have certainly been an inspiration to get me blogging regularly. And now, many are “tuning in” to my blog who look forward to a few tidbits of inspiration, or to just find out what I’m up to.
UpRising Church is doing just that…rising up! Attendance has really started heading up, people are getting excited, small groups have exploded…and to top it off, people’s lives are being changed!!
I thank you for the help (from afar) that you, Perry and others at NewSpring have given us. You’re awesome!
    Blessings,
    Joe Case, Sr. Pastor

Fun party! I’m learning about several new blogs, and I’m finding out about other cool churches throughout the country…make that the world.

Thanks for sharing. It’s very encouraging to see the impact God’s having through such a rich mix of people and ministries. Good stuff.

Congratulations from Braselton, Georgia. Yeah…I’m going to have to go with you on Brick House. Now that would be one great theme song for a building campaign.

Hello from Christ Church in Montevideo, UY. My current best books include “Fighting for Your Marriage” from Jossey-Bass and “Understanding Leadership” by Tom Marshall. I refer to “Simply Strategic Stuff” all the time.
    Thx for the blog.

  112. lucas April 26, 2007 at 10:24 am #

http://www.myspace.com/olathelifefellowship loves you! We’ve grown about 20% in the past 6 months by strategically planning what we do…Tony Morgan…Larry Brey…Bill Hybels…Adam Hamilton…et al have been a big help in that.

Even though I still read books, blogs are my new addiction for real-time ideas for a real-time culture.

i’m late, but you know, things have been crazy lately. :)

    Kansas is representin’

Westside is pretty amazing and more amazing is what God is doing to make us clean and renewed.

    my blog is pretty great
    http://www.pinkhairedgirl.net

“The Peace Maker” by Ken Sande. Our leadership suggested we read it during our difficult times here at Westside. So far, it’s pretty great. And, “When People Are Big and God Is Small: Overcoming Peer Pressure” by Edward Welch is another helpful book. I am not sure if these are really “leadership” books but definitely self-evaluation focused.

NewSpringer from the great Megalopolis of Hickory Tavern in the gem of the SC Upstate, Laurens County. We intended for Laurens to be a Country but we some how omitted the “R”…a typo from 1836 that we haven’t gotten around to fixin’….
I tried to be the first to comment, but our “tin cans linked by string” likely delayed my transmission….perhaps I will be the 1000th posted comment?!?!
Keep on bloggin’…look forward to the next 1000

  122. Caroline Marshall April 30, 2007 at 2:00 pm #

Let’s be honest, I’m not a blogger, and I’ve never read your blog before. But somehow I did today and I’m commenting! Hooray. Hope you are enjoying NewSpring. and I really hope Paul and Beth Marshall haven’t corrupted you yet, because they will :) In a good way of course. You have cute kids.

Congrats Tony on 1,000! You said in a recent post that you didn’t have an entry on Wikipedia. Look again my friend.
