Makes Me Wonder

Maroon5_3
I’ve been waiting for several weeks for iTunes to finally have Maroon 5‘s newest song available. Today was the day. I’ve been playing "Makes Me Wonder" over and over again. It’s the first single from their second album, It Won’t be Soon Before Long, that releases on May 22.

Just in case you were ever wondering, "What current group makes Tony’s ears most happy?" It’s Maroon 5. To me, they have that perfect balance of pop, rock and funk. It’s the kind of music that makes me want to dance with one of my girls. Songs from the first album, Songs About Jane, are some of the most frequently played tunes on my iPod.

Love this first song, and it makes me wonder what the rest of the album will be like.

Careful w/ that song. I think it’s blanked out in the radio edit. But my wife was using it in a exercise class she teaches at the local gym. I pointed out to her that it was dropping a (not very distinct) “F-bomb” at the end of the bridge.

Wow … the lyrics, even without the “F” word, leave something to be desired!

I was about to use it for our church countdown when I read the lyrics that start it off…

“The way it felt between your thighs
    Pleasure that made you cry…”

    The song rocks nonetheless…

Maroon 5 was one of the albums that I had to throw out when I made the decision to give every part of me to Christ- not just some. This song’s lyrics help me to feel better about the decision. It’s too bad- because they have a great sound. I always think that if popular artists with such talent would use their gifts to glorify God instead of the things of this world (and of sin, for that matter) what a better place this would be.

hmmm…. yeah….. can’t see listening to a song with lyrics like that. But lyrics aside, I guess it’s not my style either. To each his own.
