10 Stupid Technology Mistakes that Churches Make
- Letting technology drive the ministry rather than letting ministry drive the technology.
- Assuming everyone thinks like a techie.
- Using multiple databases.
- Not building a team.
- Not documenting processes.
- Implementing technology solutions without considering the strategic systems.
- Creating solutions to capture data but neglecting the solutions to report data.
- Focusing on development and implementation without creating systems for training and support.
- Hiring the best geek rather than the best leader…that knows geeky stuff.
- Not making technology a priority to reach today’s culture.

Tony - Thanks for this list. I particularly think that 4 and 5 are excellent suggestions and are applicable far beyond technology in the church.

Great list. As a datawarehousing guy, I’m totally on board with #7. It’s all about reporting and creating customized dashboards with the metrics and real-time data that person cares about. Imagine the possibilities!
