NASCAR, Coffee, Piquads and Golf
Here’s what I’ve been thinking about lately…
- I enjoy interviewing folks for roles on my team. It’s one of my favorite things to do in leadership.
- I don’t think it’s rained in Anderson in about a month. I’m having to convince Emily that we haven’t ended up in the desert by mistake.
- It scares me that I’m beginning to become familiar with the names of NASCAR drivers.
- My favorite part of my work week is meeting with Perry and the other senior management team members. It’s non-stop vision, strategy and laughter.
- We have pictures sitting all around our house waiting for me to hang them. I hate hanging pictures.
- I’m heading to Charlotte tomorrow. Rumor has it food is involved. And, I get to hang out with a handful of pretty cool ministry leaders. Something tells me I’m probably going to learn something.
- My wife met Gary Lamb for the first time last week. She’s still speechless.
- I’m craving a cup of dark coffee.
- Michael, Jared, Chris, Sandy, Howard and Skye. Those names may not mean anything to you, but those folks are quietly working to transform people’s lives. Their impact is loud.
- I’ve been blogging for over two years, and I was just contacted for the first time by a high school classmate. It’s always good to hear from former Piquads.
- By the end of July, three of the four Morgan kids will have moved to new communities and new jobs within a six-month period. Are the Morgan kids unusual, or do we live in an extremely mobile society?
- Perry and I recorded our first podcast today. I was a little bit rusty.
- I shot an 87 on Friday. That was only good for fourth place, but my team finished on top. These NewSpring staffers are good golfers.
- Is it just me, or is black the new black this year?

Tony, assure Emily that you are not in the dessert… they have sand there, not red dust! lol! But there is no humidity and the temps have been rather low… so do we want green grass or hot and humid months and months? I vote for a little dust for a couple more weeks.
Nascar isn’t that bad… as I am blogging in my favorite t-shirt… Dave Blaney…#22 for Caterpillar!
I have three older sisters, we all live in different states.
Any of my class mates that would come across Jane-Jane would never think it would be ME…no way would they ever think I would live in SC and be a Jesus freak… freak yes, but livin’ for Jesus, not so much! Praise God for His grace!
Nothing could have made me happier this morning than learning that you know the name of even just one Nascar driver. You know what kind of music they listen to, don’t you?? ;)
Tony, I don’t think my wife has had the privilege(?!?!) of meeting Gary, but she’s speechless – and just shakes her head – whenever I talk about him! :)
Wait!? whats wrong with NASCAR?? as i wear my #20 flip flops…. and black would be my new black if it wasnt so crazy hot so ill settle for brown :)
Tony, I didn’t know you were from Piqua. My mom’s brother and family live there. I actually just visited them for my cousin’s graduation from Sidney Lehman Catholic High School. Glad to see things are going well for your family down south. Miss ya around here!
