What’s Happening Here

The Morgan family has spent the last few days touring D.C. We’re true tourists.

  • The rest of the family saw several museums while I was participating in the Buzz Conference. Of those stops, it sounds like the Postal Museum was the surprise. Abby said that’s her favorite museum so far.
  • We went to the Baltimore Orioles game on Saturday evening. We’ve visited different ballparks every summer, so it was a treat to see Camden Yards.
  • Yesterday, we spent quite a bit of the day on the Metro and hiking to the major sites including Arlington Cemetery, the White House, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial and the various war memorials. To be honest, the kids probably enjoyed riding the Metro the most.
  • Jacob pointed out that there are a lot of naked people in the museums.
  • Kayla really enjoyed the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers.
  • The family got kicked out of the art museum. I guess Brooke didn’t like the art, and she was letting everyone know it.
  • I dumped Jacob off to use a port-a-potty yesterday and proceeded to get pulled over by the D.C. police for entering an area I wasn’t supposed to be in. Need to remember to pack a bucket next time.

More fun is ahead today. We’re off to the Capitol.

Tony – Glad to hear that you are enjoying your time in DC. Having spent several years there in seminary (http://www.wesleyseminary.edu) I would also recommend both the Washington national Cathedral (http://www.cathedral.org/cathedral/index.shtml) and the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (http://www.nationalshrine.com) as beautiful places and wonderful church architecture. Enjoy your time there!

Isn’t Camden Yards one of the best places to watch a ball game?!?!

Until I visited Wrigley a couple of summers ago, Camden Yards topped my list.
