Figuring out Facebook

Facebook_2
I’m trying desperately to be cool and hip, but I still don’t get it. While I try to figure it out, here’s my new Facebook profile. Looks like you have to register and become my "friend." (This is so weird.)

    Hey Tony -
You are SOO cool now, haha – and you beat me to it .. I was already on your friends list … I’ve taken it a step further and geek-ified it by getting SMS messages on my Treo phone when someone requests to add me as a friend, so I can rely with “a” to add them, “m” to message them, etc.

One thing for sure – setup the external RSS so all your blog entires automatically import into Facebook!

I’ve had my Facebook profile for awhile now. I rarely use it or even log into it. I’m more into VIRB.

I did login to accept your friend request though.

If you think the friend thing is weird -just wait until people start poking you! Facebook is a powerful tool though… I found people on facebook that I had not spoken too in years. I found folks that I went to elementary school and middle school with. It looks like Terry is figuring out the facebook thing too.

I understand that it is being said that Microsoft is looking to buy Facebook for a whopping 6 billion dollars, but to be perfeclty honest with you, virb.com is where it’s at.

Yep. It’s crazy confusing to me! Yesterday, I went to Facebook to see my daughter’s new haircut, and I realized I had to join, so I did…then I got really confused. I found that there are about 15 different “Amy Guy’s” in Facebook, which was fun to see where they were all from, but to go any further – well, I couldn’t without my daughter making me a friend. I messaged her. She called the next day to ask if it was true – did her mom and dad really message her on Facebook? She has accepted us as friends! We’re grateful.

Facebook, to be cool and hip? Funny you said that. Think it greatly depends upon who you are wanting to think you’re cool and hip. Or what audience you are trying to reach… And as someone who has to talk about sex quite bit… I’d be careful with the poke thing. I’m just sayin’…

as a 33 year old facebooker, i’ve found it a pretty good tool for connecting to the young (college-age and early 20s) people in our church… i’ll be anxious to see what you do with it. i’m envisioning it as a powerful connection tool for us in the next 6 months to a year.
