Google Analytics: Connection Speeds

Based on my Google Analytics stats from the past 30 days, here are the connection speeds for those visiting my site:

  1. Cable = 39%
  2. DSL = 29%
  3. Unknown = 23%
  4. T1 = 5%
  5. Dialup = 2%

Don’t know why the "unknown" percentage is so high. It’ amazing, though, to see that almost everyone is operating on a high speed connection. My condolences to the few of you that still have to use dialup.

The unknown could be an OC3 or higher.

It’s also possible that a chunk of your unknowns are user accessing the page via a device (read iPhone) on a mobile network (Sprint EVDO, etc).

uknowns are probably corporate users over VPN tunnels and the like so you google cant figure out if they have a DS3, T1, T3 etc… Some might be mobile too as suggested but I bet the bulk are people surfing from a large company. If I was your new IT manager I could investigate it more. 12 Years in IT and Customer Support and Helpdesk management. Unfortunately I have this church planting gig in Alabama – however I could work out a telecomuting option and become dual – vocational if you are interested!! :-)
