10 U.S. Cities I’ve Never Been to That I’d Like to Visit

I’m looking for excuses to get to these cities in the U.S. Though I’ve traveled a good bit (a lot of it by minivan), these are places I’ve never visited. Here they are in order of preference.

  1. New York, NY — This is my top priority. I’m hoping to get the kids to Yankee stadium next summer before they move into the new ballpark.
  2. Honolulu, HI — Emily and I almost pulled the trigger a couple of years ago, but we decided to wait. I’ve actually spent a few hours in the Honolulu airport, but that really doesn’t count.
  3. Miami, FL — We’ve been up and down the Gulf coast, but we’ve never made it to South Beach.
  4. Seattle, WA — I know it’s cool and rains a lot, but I hear they have great coffee. Now that Emily and I are hooked on Grey’s Anatomy, we have to go.
  5. San Antonio, TX — At least one time, I need to take my wife to the Emily Morgan Hotel.
  6. New Orleans, LA — It’s hard to believe I haven’t had the opportunity to see the French Quarter.
  7. Portland, OR — It’s just an excuse to get close to the Pacific coast in Oregon which I understand is gorgeous.
  8. Salt Lake City, UT — People have said that it’s one of the most beautiful places in the country.
  9. Philadelphia, PA — I’ve always wanted to visit Independence Hall.
  10. Anchorage, AK — I hate the cold weather, but I’m intrigued by an Alaskan cruise.

NYC – Nicer than you’d think.
Honolulu – Very clean beach as if Disney ran it.
Miami – Not my fav part of the Sunshine State ( Try Coral Gables )
Seattle – STARBUCKS on every corner
San Antonio – The best for family fun. Stay on the river walk. Eat at the cafe’s A true 10.
New Orleans – All bets are off now
    Salt Lake – Breathtaking
Philly – Very cool for the family
Anchorage – One of the 10 best places I’ve ever stayed. And BTW it’s not bad at all in early May until late Sept. ( May is best ..no bugs yet )

Oh be sure to cruise North bound …. Never Southbound. Ask L.B.

    Dude,
Do NOT stay at the Emily Morgan Hotel in San Antonio. My wife and I just took our three kids there a few weeks ago (we live in Dallas and have visited San Antonio a number of times) … The Alamo – a given! … The Riverwalk – great! Theme parks – great! Emily Morgan? Not so great. It’s bland, dingy, short on hospitality and long on “When are we leaving?” We endured one night and literally CHECKED OUT and stayed two nights at the old Marriott Riverwalk and LOVED it! Let me know when you make it to Texas. We’ll meet you there and tour you around. Bring your boots.

I work in Philadelphia. Independence Hall is great. When I was a kid we went into the city every summer and did a tour of all of the historical landmarks of Philadelphia…it’s not the friendliest city in the country, but I love it.

    Tony,
The Emily Morgan in San Antonio is beautiful, at least from the outside. My office used to be 3 blocks from it and I’d pass it every time I walked mail down to the post office.

    my two cents…

if you go to hawaii, you have to see maui and kauai. honolulu is great too. okay, so you really can’t go wrong in hawaii. do a cruise and see it all!

alaska is incredible. much more beautiful than expected. my dad has led a bunch of cruise groups (hence the shoutout from charles) and i could get you the 411.

    Hey Tony
Our Church “Oasis Church” (formerly Church of Pembroke Pines) is just north of Miami.
South Beach is an amazing place. Probably different than most any you have or will visit. Wild! Neat place to visit. Lots of our folks work in or around it. We are in the County North. But strange enough tonight we vote in a business mtg. to accept a church which is dying and is 80+ years old as one of our campuses. It is only about 5-6 miles from South Beach. So when it gets cold up there in Jan, or Feb. lets schedule you to come down maybe speak at a leaders meeting , or services and we will put you up on South Beach. One of our members is a general manager of a hotel on South Beach. So just let us know!! We can begin working on it. Thanks for the great ministry of encouragement you and your team are to many. I was at the Buzz and heard you. Enjoyed it.

The best vacation my hubby & I have take was to NOLA, but that was preKatrina. Not sure what to expect now.

We are heading to LA & San Diego next month.

Want to take my daughter to NY (her name is Brooklyn) when she is 12 to see the Christmas Spectactular at Radio City and hopefully the Macy’s Day Parade. I loved NY when I went in ’97.

Tony, I’m in New Orleans right now, we went to the French Quarter last night. It was good, I wouldn’t mind coming back here when we have more time. As far as Alaska goes, you have to do it. When you do, let me know and I’ll be your personal tour guide. I’ve live in Alaska most my life and spent two years driving tour bus. It’s the most incredible place in the world.

Tony – Love the Blog. Been to a few of the cities and think that is a great list….

New York – been there a few times, but head back soon. Last trip was for the Macy’s Day Parade…have to do that just once!

Miami – a completely different place, but very cool.

Seattle, WA – Worked there on and off for about 3 year. Awesome place. Starbucks, Market, Puyallup Fair, SeaFair, Ferry Rides and unbelievable views. Go between June and September to avod most of the rain and enjoy incredible weather.

New Orlens – Though I feel for the city, I was embarassed by how “dirty” Burbon Street was. Neat place to see one time, but not my favorite.

Love all the different places and inspiartion to make a list of my own! Keep up the great work.
