Dallas Download, Parenting Problems and the Terrific Tribe

Here are a few highlights and thoughts from recent days:

  • Due to weather in Houston, we have a "bonus" night in Dallas. I like my travel buddies, but not as much as my wife and kids. I’m ready to be home. (And, yes, I’ve hit the mopey stage.)
  • We really enjoyed the opportunity to visit two of the Fellowship Church campuses in Plano and downtown Dallas yesterday. Amazing! I’m convinced that this multi-site strategy really works. It’s my understanding, as an example, that there are now about 3,000 people attending the Plano campus each weekend.
  • The six of us have had some great conversations about how we can prepare for a successful launch of the Greenville campus. We can’t wait to see the campus open!
  • There are lots of sad people in Dallas today after that thumping the Cowboys took from the Patriots. Is there any doubt that the Patriots are the team to beat this year?
  • I continue to be amazed by the "confessions" people are sharing on ParentsAreClueless.com. It certainly confirms that we’ve chosen a much-needed topic for the series starting this Sunday. By the way, Perry will be back to open the series.
  • Our very first All Access experience has sold out. Feel free to email Sarah if you’d like to be added to the waiting list or receive information about future events. We’ll announce more dates for 2008 in the next several weeks.
  • Read an interesting book on the way to Dallas the other day. I’ll share some highlights in a separate post. By the way, I’m looking for books that address the rise of social networking and its impact on culture, relationships, decision-making, political agendas, etc. Have you read anything I should check out?
  • The Tribe just jumped to a 2-1 lead in the series with Boston. Cleveland hasn’t won a World Series since 1948. I’ve been an Indians fan since the days of guys like Duane Kuiper, Rick Manning and Buddy Bell. There were some pretty stinky teams back then. Could this finally be the year they take it all?

    Hey Tony,
I am a missionary in Tartu, Estonia, but I am originally from Ohio. I read your blog and always have enjoyed it, but finding out your a Tribe fan, makes visiting your page like a little slice of heaven. I remember going to games at the old stadium when it was my family and a couple of nuns who got in for free. Sit where you want and hope you would hear the drum beat if the tribe could get someone into scoring position, which wasn’t very often. Enjoy this run and lets hope it ends better than 1997.

Hi Tony, hope all is well….I highly recommend McLarens new book, “Everything must Change”, I am only about a third of the way through it but I can’t imagine this book not having a huge impact on anyone.

Actually, I thought the Colts were the team to beat…I guess we find out on Nov. 4.

I like the idea of Parents are Clueless series. How true is that!

    Hey Tony,

Not a book but some info on the social networks that will probably come across as…. “duh”, but thought you might like it just the same.

I’ve been a Red Sox guy since i was a kid…. but i do have a love for the Indians— a former teammate from Furman came in and shut down the “heart of the lineup” the other night— Tom ‘Nasty’ Mastny– 10th inning… tooke care of Ortiz…Manny…Mike Low…. we may have to make a trip to the series if the Indians make it… let’s chat…

    One Love,
